2nd/3rd Line Support/Field Engineer

We are seeking a support/field technician to join an established and growing team in a varied and interesting position covering a wide spectrum of IT duties and services. As an MSP, we deal directly with SMB, SME and corporate customers across varied verticals. Support and consultancy is provided by telephone, remote support and on-site on a day to day basis. It should be noted that this the successful candidate should have a strong understanding of the following:

  • Desktop and Server Hardware upgrade/installation and troubleshooting
  • A good knowledge of up to date Windows desktop operating systems and applications
  • Solid experience in current Windows Server products and services (Active Directory/DNS/DHCP/Group Policy, Exchange, SQL, Remote Desktop Services)
  • Strong Office 365 implementation, administration and maintenance
  • Good understanding of broadband/connectivity services and troubleshooting
  • VoIP services, routing and troubleshooting
  • Cloud and hosted services
  • Solid Structured Cabling Experience in planning, installation and testing Essential
  • Good Networking experience (TCP/IP topologies, switches, routers)
  • Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Firewalling, UTM and security solutions
  • Onsite and Offsite backup and recovery services and procedures

The successful candidate should also possess the following skills:

  • Ability to use own initiative to see tasks through to completion
  • Capability to work well independently, under pressure and with an eye for detail
  • Leadership - and the ability to give direction, guidance and help
  • A Willingness and enthusiasm to learn is essential
  • Good attention to detail
  • Flexibility and a team player, willing to learn and adapt quickly in fast paced environment

Whilst the workload is shared, a large element of this position is field work. Given the nature of the position, good communication skills, leadership abilities, technical guidance, flexibility, and a clean UK driving license and vehicle is required to meet daily deadlines and workloads in this friendly, fast-paced environment.

It should also be stated that there is a big element of weekend working involved, which the ideal candidate should be able to commit to.

Salary will be based on skills and experience.
